Not everyone was so lucky
Another cyclist in a painful and potentially injury-causing hold. Eye witnesses at the scene say police officers who put people in these holds (they were common) often yanked on the twisted arms of the restrained individuals repeatedly. The combination of extending a joint beyond its normal range and the reflexive contraction reponse of muscle tissue can cause tears in muscle tissue and/or lingaments.
Note the cyclist’s helmet has been knocked off. Keep in mind, what preceded most of these scenes of people in dangerous holds: they were knocked to the pavement without warning by one or more policemen ambush-style.
