Pirates…who were they?
We think we know, but there is more to the story.
The Golden Age of Piracy comes from the early 17th century. They created a global crisis and challenged the big slave-trading countries – Spain, Portugal, Holland, France, and England.
Pirates were actually pretty popular and many common people did not consider them criminals. They were considered heroes because they fought back against the powerful and corrupt people of the day.
