Who is running the show?
TV and its evil twin social media lead the show.
Whatever appears on that flickering screen becomes the justification for the politicians.
The politicians, having absolutely no sense of how the world works beyond their little power games and self-promotion strategies, will do anything the TV declares is OK:
1) violate the Constitution,
2) persecute the innocent,
3) destroy the livelihoods of, in this case, hundreds of of millions and
4) prosecute vicious wars against civilian populations.
For the TV game to work, you have to control who appears and who does not appear on TV.
