“All bank accounts subject to confiscation”
Matthias Chang: Malaysian financial iconoclast
Is Malaysia being threatened for being outspoken?
Matthias Chang Wen Chieh was political secretary to Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
So what, right?
Who the heck is Mahathir Mohamad and why does it matter?
In 2007, the year before the global financial market, Mohamad called for the Islamic world to develop its own gold-backed currency, the gold dinar, as an alternative to US dollar reserves in central banks.
How often to you hear people who run a big country talk like this?
This movement launched seven years ago, but do you think the issue is any less important now?
Is it possible that Malaysian airliners are being “disappeared” at strategically timed intervals to telegraph a message to Malaysian authorities who still may back this movement?
I don’t know. Unfortunately, given the way the US operates, it’s at least as likely scenario as the one that says it’s a total coincidence that two different modern jetliners from the same country just happened to not just crash, but disappear without a trace and a third was shot down under as yet still unexplained circumstances.
I mean how often does this ever happen? Now three times and planes from the same country in one year. Really?
