Hundreds of “Occupy Oakland” protesters were on the move late Wednesday night after a peaceful demonstration at Frank Ogawa Plaza.
The crowd was walking south on Broadway after a confrontation occurred with police at the 12th Street BART station where some protesters were reportedly unable to enter the station.
A large group left Wednesday night’s Oakland demonstration to join the “Occupy SF” rally, which may be facing eviction from police in San Francisco at some point late Wednesday night.
At least one protester was detained at the BART station.
But still one of the most vivid images from Tuesday night’s Occupy Oakland protest shows a man lying in the street bleeding from the head after a tear gas attack by police.
Occupy SF identified the man as 24-year-old Scott Olsen, an Iraq war veteran. Olsen has a fractured skull and is in critical condition at Highland Hospital in Oakland, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Wednesday afternoon, members of Occupy Oakland said Olsen was surrounded by his friends and fellow Iraq war veterans in the hospital.
