There was at least one "credentialed" photographer on the scene at the time of the assault. Note the white plastic card hanging from the neck to the man on the far left.
It's not clear whether he is a press photographer or if he is with the police. In any event, neither his photos nor his account have appeared in the "mainstream" news.
Indentified: LANCE IVERSON of the San Francisco Chronicle. He has not responded to phone calls requesting his comments.
In fact, at of the day of this posting (August 9, 1997) nothing of this well documented event that was eye witnessed by scores of people has been reported by the news media.
